Rates
Rates depend on many
factors, including density and length of the material,
audience, and handling of special features. Most often
rates are per indexable page, but by the entry, the hour
or per project are also possible per the needs of a
client. Please contact me to discuss rates on a
per-project basis.
In general, I need to
see a sample of the work in question, or a similar text,
to give a firm rate quote. Rates for traditional
back-of-the-book indexes generally run from $3-$5 per
page. Embedded indexing is usually more expensive per
page.
Project quotes
include up to 2 hours of editing. Extensive editing or
rework because of changes to the text may require a
further hourly charge. Small changes in pagination can
usually be accommodated on the fly, but it is always
better to work from finalized pages.
Rush jobs are
available, please contact me for more information.

undiscovered, when there is a sure index to it if men
will but take the trouble to look?” Jonathan Harker in Dracula by Bram Stoker.
